That is, until I got sick....and thought twice about possibly spreading illness via food.
So I had to tone down the adventure a few notches.
Instead, I decided to put the lone can of garbanzo beans that has been sitting in my cabinet to use. I thought, "Is making hummus hard?"
Turns out, it's ridiculously easy.
And don't worry...I thought of my family and washed my hands a frequently and religiously. ;)
Here's how it turned out:
Want to try something new and make your own homemade hummus? It's super cheap, super easy, and super yummy (what more could you ask for?).
1 can garbanzo beans (or two cups, if you cooked your own), with 1 1/2 tsp. liquid reserved
1 1/2 tsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
2 TBSP lemon juice
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 of a fresh jalapeno pepper sliced (optional)
Dash of cayenne pepper (optional)
To make, toss it all in your food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
I took Jen's advice and we ate the hummus served on top of cucumber slices. Delicious!
